Boutique shops in Martinborough make this a well worth visit.

Nelson, Tasman Bay

Found at the top of the South Island Nelson is one of the most picturesque places in New Zealand. It is well-known for arts and crafts. The World of Wearable Arts event was founded in Nelson and there is a museum housing past winners. Nelson also has vineyards and cafes worth visiting along with fishing and general sightseeing.

Wanaka, Otago

This town is situated on the edge of Lake Wanaka with the spectacular backdrop of the Southern Alps. Wanaka offers a wide variety of outdoor sports which are made more enjoyable by the great setting. Not too far from the other great tourist spot, Queenstown, Wanaka is on the route to Milford Sound. Wanaka also hosts the bicentennial Warbirds over Wanaka airshow which draws aircraft from all parts of the world.
